Wellford city police using unmarked Cars Chargers and SUVs blacked out windows are working state hwy I-85 Starting where you exit onto 129 to Lyman and work freeway all the way to Duncan Hwy 101 . If you search there jurisdiction they manage to get both lanes of i-85 sliced into there jurisdiction (somehow even though many miles from there city) but a online map clearly shows there patrol area only exist from 129 exit to north Tyger river (just past old weigh station) before hwy 290 yet there stopping cars many miles further up to hwy 101.As well they have Hwy 29 into Spartanburg covered exiting from I-85 stopping cars way past there jurisdiction which only exist for about 1 mile off I-85 (at best) again stopping were North Tyger river bridge is. They will stop you for about anything 5mph over turn signal etc. and in all these areas going into there patrol area even on a 6 lane state hwy like I-85 they have got the speeds dropped off about 15-20mph in less than 1/2 mile and there they sit Sometimes on the bridge overpass or on the entry ramp on other side of bridge . Having to commute from Greenville to Spartanburg 2 times daily I see these guys pulling in Massive money and almost every car gets searched.State hwy patrol does there jobs very effectively and are well within the law No complaints. But To Wellford this seems like a huge cash cow they have going on.Sad to see this in the year 2013. Use caution and drive the speed limit use your turn signals dont tailgate or expect to pay out lots of cash.Good Luck Passing thru These areas.As a life long SC resident I apologize to anyone who has to deal with these guys.

Speed trap for traffic coming from Spartanburg Community College towards I 26. Stretch of road after crossing over I 85 is 35 MPH and is enforced by radar gun with officers standing in roadway at Taylor Colquitt Rd. Usual speed check done by two or more officers to avoid missing anyone.

a 2 block long school zone with a barely visible sign and no visible school (the school is not even on Union but on Pine St.). City police with radar are waiting to ticket you beginning at 7 am.

Especially South, cops will stand at the base of exit ramps with radar guns. Also, they are active late night. Be aware that the speed limit is 55 and enforced. They got me 2:30AM going 80. I did not realize I was going so fast.

There is an old gas station (closed now) on the right immediately after the R.L. Jordan offices coming from Hwy 29/ E. Main St. road. Police "hide" in the entrance/ exits of this lot for there are bushes hiding this spot here clocking drivers passing by on Fernwood Glendale Rd. There is another gas station (in operation now) just past here on the right also named Kangaroo Express before Jesse Boyd School.
