La Grange, Illinois Speed Traps
La Grange road by 51st Street
La Grange got new squad cars and cops enjoy sitting in the American Legion parking lot just south of 51st street on La Grange Road. Road built for 45 but limit is 35. It is impossible to see him beforehand coming southbound (unless the parking lot is full of cars), but northbound traffic has time to identify him and brake accordingly.
La Grange Field Club
There are often LGPD officers sitting in the La Grange Field Club parking lot along 47th street looking for speeders. Road is built for 45 MPH, but the limit is 30 MPH.
47th street between Gilbert Ave. and Eberly Ave.
The 4 lane, heavily traveled road looks like it’s meant for 40-45, but the limit is 30. Cops sit in the parking lot at Sedgwick, the 7-Eleven, the historical society parking lot, LaGrange Field club parking lot, the 1400 office building driveway, and many side streets. I’ve seen cops chasing down packs of cars moving at the speed of the traffic (around 35) from 5-6 blocks away. The limit is 40 east of Eberly ave. and 35 west of Gilbert, and it’s a very sudden change. If you’re not careful, you’re sure to end up with a ticket.
I-55 Southbound at La Grange Road
State troopers will park beneath the overpass on the southbound shoulder beneath La Grange Road. Unless you know that they are there, you see them too late to escape a ticket.
On Lagrange rd bewteen 47th and downtown Lagrange.
The speed limit is 25 mph and I see police cars sitting on the intersecting side streets. They are stoping cars if they go over 30 mph.
