Bethesda, Maryland Speed Traps
4200 Block East-West Hwy East Bound
Just got a speed monitoring violation from a photo enforced section of the East-West Hwy stating I was going 42 in a 35 mph section of the hwy. 35 mph highway?? That is not a highway.
4400 Block Jones Bridge Road, west bound
No speed limit sign is visible in that area at night but cameras grab shots of supposed speeders (anyone barely over 35 mph) and tickets are mailed. It’s their word against yours–and guess who wins.
Northbound Rockville Pike (MD 355) at Grosvenor Lane
This trap is tricky for two reasons- 1. it’s just after Exit 34 off the DC Beltway and 2. the camera is mounted back from the intersection, high up over the left-most lane and not at all apparent. That’s just the way Montgomery County wants it, of course. The limit is 35. SLOW DOWN after exiting the Beltway.
Democracy Blvd heading towards Old Georgetown at firehouse
I got a ticket by a cop hiding in the parking lot of the firehouse on Democracy Blvd while driving in the direction of Old Georgetown Road. Speed limit is 35 and they must figure people won’t expect it since there is another speed camera down the road closer to Old Georgetown.
Speed trap because its a 3 lane road in each direction with tons of cars and a couple of highway ramps. Definitely should be a 40-45mph road!
River Road, eastbound, at Wittier
It is not a speed trap but a red light trap.
