Southbound US-23 at Hyne Road overpass
Traveling southbound on US-23 just past the Hyne Road overpass. State troopers like to sit in the turnaround just past the Hyne road overpass. The overpass goes up a little and you cannot see the officers below the road. During the summer they set their radar guns between 78 and 82 mph so be wise and do not travel above 75 in this area.

This area, like most rural freeways in Michigan, should be posted at 80 mph to match the normal 85th percentile speeds in Michigan which range from about 78 mph to 83 mph on good rural freeways. The State Police and MDOT are legally prohibited from posting the safest 85th percentile speeds on rural freeways because of the arbitrary statutory limit of 70 mph which is not valid from a traffic safety engineering point of view.
