South of Schoolcraft St. on Middlebelt Road

Livonia, MichiganFeb 10, 20103 Comments

A Livonia cop car stands at the entrance to a Ford facility just past the railroad strack bridge. He clocked me on his Laser Radar going 57 mph in a 45 MPH zone. The only problem was I had my cruise control set at 45 MPH. He told me his Laster Radar clocked me at a distance of 847 feet. This is impossible because the Laser Radar would have to go through a bridge which it Can’t Do. I fought the ticket in court and was told that if I pay $150 on an Impeding Traffic charge I would get no points. The ticket would have been $135 and 3 points. Something has to be done about this. The courts are working with the police to benefit the city funds.

This happened to me also about 2 years ago, same place and I also fought the ticket and got the same charge with no points. It doesn't seem possible to be able to be on other property and also detect before going under bridge!!

I've been to court many times and watched alot of people try to fight a ticket and I haven't seen a court go against a cop yet. Most courts will accept a guity plea with a request for no points, they change the ticket to impeding traffic which of course has a fine but has no points. The reason they do this is because they keep the full amount of the fine. If they collect on the original speeding charge they have to split the money with the state!

Yep, a definite speed trap. Try to fight Livonia on any traffic charge. You can't win. I think it is just another added tax.
