Yes, Heath Springs is a very small town with the classic speed trap parameters--decreasing speed limits within short distances that make it very difficult to stay within the speed limit. The officers will tell you that they are protecting the senior citizens who meet at a center for lunch, but when I was stopped, the senior citizens had been gone for hours from the center. Of course, if you are from out of town, getting ticketed is a hopeless cause. I have the misfortune of passing through Heath Springs several times a year, and I notice that locals speed and show no respect for the speed limits.
