approach to Hood Canal bridge
The highway 104 eastbound approach to the Hood Canal bridge has a long downhill section that goes from 60 to 40 mph about 1/2 way down the hill before you reach the bridge span. There are two places on either side of the highway they like to sit and pick people off like proverbial sitting ducks. Especially heavily patrolled during commute times and sunny weekends when the bridge is at its heaviest use. VERY easy to speed here. The bridge is 40 mph the whole way across, and they’ll get you for speeding up too soon going westbound too.

Yes I got a ticket here. I decided to plead guilty but go to traffic court to seed a reduced fine and a possible deferment. Well was I suprised when the very first guy who went up got his ticket there too! I said this is going to set the tone. Forunately for me they go in alphbetical order (P)! Well there were a total of 6 tickets from this spot by the time it was my turn. ALL before me were dismissed except one due to the young kids record. I couldn't believe it so when I went up I just basically plead guilty as "the leader" of the train of cars behind me "pushing". This seemed to be a common defense and it worked. The "female" Judge was really "ticked off" with the WSP for making this into a speed trap. My suggestion if you get a ticket here is to plead guilty with reason. Go to the traffic court, you have nothing to loose and may have it dismissed like me!!!
