Boydton, Virginia Route 58
Boydton is a small backwater berg on Virginia’s Route 58, and has become very pro active in citing drivers who exceed the speed limit even by small margins. My wife who made the effort to appear in court paid a 130 dollar ticket for being 3mph over the limit. And she wasn’t the only one in court that day that ended up paying excessive fines for these minor infractons.
Additionally, we’ve notice thier LEO pulling over several vehicles at the same time, and how he is able to clock the speed of each vehicle is unkown. At best, we figure he’s assuming whatever speeds he decides will generate the cash. This was brought up in court, but the Judge ruled the action of the LEO legal. Best advice would be to avoid this section of 58 if possible as this town is now generating it’s revenue through speeding tickets…
