This is a total speed trap. I came around a curve - doing 55 as was posted and then all of a sudden there is a 35 mph sign with a cop sitting under it. I actually saw the sign and started to slow down, then I noticed the cop, who then proceeded to pull out and pull me over. No warning, just 55 down to 35, no signs saying reduce speed ahead, nothing! Thankfully I had slowed down quick enough not to be reckless. I was also glad I was driving and not my son, who was a few weeks shy of 18, and who I was driving south to college. I have never had a speeding ticket - ever - in 23 years of driving, in fact, I was only ever pulled over for it once and I was a teenager when that happened, and I'm stuck having to pay the damn thing because I'm in the process of moving from NoVa to North Chesterfield, and rather than take time off to drive down there to go to court, waste gas, miss a day of work, I am paying it. I especially love the letters I received from all the helpful lawyers in Petersburg who wanted to help me in court. Go F yourselves Petersburg. It's all a big scam!

I got popped on this speed trap today. 11/12/12. There is a light on 460 about a half mile prior to the 295 underpass if you're headed east bound. I think the speed limit goes from 55 back down to 45 in that stretch. I got hit for doing 60 in a 45. Also the sherriff deputy nailed me for a brake light that was burned out. I even had the bulb in the car had bought it from autozone, just hadn't installed it yet. I showed it to him. Didn' t matter, he wrote the citation for speeding and the light anyways. I was courteous, respectful, admitted I had erred. Asked him if he'd give a break to a veteran on Veteran's Day. None of it worked. He brought the wood, told me his lieutenant had instructed him to enforce a zero tolerance policy. They had 4 other cars pulled over at the same time on the same stretch of road, handing out citations like candy. The city/county coffers must be running low.
