Alabama 55 (new by-pass)
Alabama 55 was extended to by-pass the town of Georgiana and meet Alabama 106 near I-65. Speed limit is 55 mph (unlike most of Alabama 55, on which it is 65 mph) despite the road being well away from town (and much of anything) and newly constructed with four lanes, wide shoulders and a center turn lane. Speed is frequently monitored by town police.

With the completion of the "Georgiana Bypass" portion of SR-55, the town has resorted to a significantly high level of enforcement here. It is what happens to every small town dependent upon speeding tickets as a source of income. While this entire stretch of rural minor arterial, 4-lane undivided road from River Falls north to the southern outskirts of Georgiana is 65mph with few intersections and residential driveways, so too is the new bypass except the speed limit inexplicably drops to 55mph. It is easy to have the illusion of going too slow.
Were I an Alabamian, I'd be looking at legal options to have the bypass set to 65mph.
