When traveling westbound on VA-3 out of Montross, trap is to the left on Falls Hill Rd. This section of road is straight and has a slight downhill slope so the officer has a clear line of sight of at least a half mile. He/she will see you long before you realize it. He will position his vehicle without ANY lights on, facing westbound traffic, so even catching the reflection of the cruiser’s markings is basically impossible. When travelling eastbound, out of Oak Grove, on VA-3, trap will be on the right as you crest a small rise. In this direction the officer’s cruiser will be in the same place but is completely obscured by trees until after you’ve past Falls Hill Rd. Again you won’t see him until it’s too late. This speed trap seems to target westbound travelers but is highly effective in both directions. It’s in operation nearly NON-STOP and nighttime is almost a guarantee! Officers set up shop there so regularly that Google maps shows one there!
