HWY 17 N of Litchfield to Murrells Inlet
The old Litchfield 45 zone has been extended past Sandy Island road as a speed trap. It reduces speed and bottlenecks traffic where everyone normally returns to the 55 speed limit (old speed) before Murrells Inlet. It is now a trap worked on ALL HOLIDAYS and most weekends during the summer season. A Sheriffs Department patrol car is parked in the median or side of the road to make it hard to tell when the limit is being enforced. Therefore, you know where and roughly when they are about to start writing tickets again, the presence of an empty car getting people desensitized to the car prior to the trap being set.
