I successful fought (filed Sept 21, 2009) a speeding ticket from the CHP on October 14, 2008, in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue and Harriet Street, north of Ventura Street. The LA Superior Appellate court found that section of Lincoln to be a speed trap and the posted speed limit should not be 30 mph.
I agree that the speed limit at 30MPH for such a wide street is deliberately set to gain revenue. It is not set at this speed as a safety precaution.
Also, when following the 30MPH speed often drivers of cars behind you become agitated and use the turn lane to pass you. This makes this a dangerous speed limit. I think that 35MPH would be a safer speed limit as many more drivers will comply. But then what other use is there for the overweight motorcycle cops but being sneaky?
