Eastward on Mission Gorge Road into Santee
The Santee Sheriff’s department posts several officers with radar guns at the bottom of Mission Gorge Road at about the Santee City Limits. Mission Gorge has a downgrade of about 7 degrees and makes a turn at the top of the hill. Cars accelerate going up the hill and continue to accelerate on the down grade. By the time the driver rounds the turn, the sheriffs (about 4) are there with radar guns. When I was there last, there were about 6 cars pulled over. It is not a congested area and no pedestrian traffic; there is no commercial activity and it is not a safety problem. Santee speed trap is indicative of strict revenue generation and true definition of a speed trap.
