Belknap Street near Live Oak Street
This is an encidious speed trap. There are 10-12 Fort Worth Police Officers posted at Live Oak going west on Belknap which is a one way off of Hwy. 121 Airport Freeway. In a short distance, Belknap curves and rises over railroad tracks of the OK & T RR. The speed limit on 121 is 65 Just as you get to the bridge there is a posted 35 sign. There is not a Reduce Speed Ahead, R2-5 Series, sign between the two speed signs which is required by Section 2B.16 of the Texas Department of Transportation manual on road signs. On Interstate 30 going west under I35, the speed drops from 60 to 50 and there is such a sign posted. (this is also a speed trap). I was nabbed at a stated 51 MPH about noon on 16 March 2004. They must have had a field day of stopping about 400 drivers and it looked like everybody was speeding because it is almost impossible in the space provided to slow from 65 to 35 without slaming on the brakes. They hit you with the radar as you crest the rise and head downhill. From the top of the brdge to Live Oak is about 150 yards but they have already clocked you. This street in this location is a 3 lane road with nothing built on either side. Weatherford street going east one way on the other side has a 40 sign. The speed limit here should be at least 45 and then drop to 35 when you get into downtown. This is my first speeding ticket. I have pleaded not guilty. I am going to fight it.
