1400 East within Lawrence is Louisiana street. As it exits the city to the south at 31st street it becomes a paved 2 lane with no curbs. I can't recall any speed signs as you pass the man-made Baker wetlands and the perfectly good farm land that has recently been made into even more mosquito breeding grounds. A mile south is a bridge over the Wakarusa river. A police car hides off the north bound lane, headed north just beyond the bridge so the officer can gun cars from inside the car.
