State Route 17 near State Route 238
As a Coast Guardsman (or any other military member) living in TRACEN Yorktown or nearby base, he or she must take special care to obey all traffic laws. He or she must take it beyond the point of going the speed limit; traveling 05 miles per hour under the limit is a better bet of avoiding a ticket. I knew a few members of the lower tier of my chain of command getting pulled over on BICYCLES, then charged with a statute that didn’t even exist on the books (smart kid challenged the officer). Outside of the base, an officer is almost always sitting near the government cage waiting to pull servicemen over (so no, military does NOT recieve a break). Police cannot be avoided; operating a vehicle for recreational purposes should be limited and within what would otherwise be considered undue precaution. The economy in VA in general isn’t the greatest, and much revenue is recieved from traffic tickets.
