Once you get out of Short Pump, the speed limit remains 45 m.p.h., despite, IMO, the road’s capability to handle traffic 10 m.p.h. higher, since it’s a wide 4-lane, divided road in an area not well developed. Watch for a local cop at the intersection by the dealership on the right. That intersection (traveling westbound, remember) has a small chunk of road on the right that’s adjacent to the dealership and dead ends there. He’ll wait in total darkness, clocking you as you approach the dealership. By the time you see him he’s got you. I don’t know how lenient they are with the speed limit at that location, but he caught me by surprise during a leisurely (read: legal) cruise one night.
