This "cut through" between the end of South Lakes Dr. and Sunrise Valley Dr. is the access road for all the parking lots at USGS. It is Not a public road. The FPS continues to patrol it regularly and issues Federal tickets that start at about $100. USGS employees routinely get $75 citations for running the stop signs coming Out of the parking lots and service roads. It is Not a speed trap, people driving 35-50 are a real hazard to the employees. We have had multiple fatal accidents on that piece of road. The public should just use another road or stick to the speed limit [25MPH].
