Interstate 40W near Exit Number 221
Metro Nashville Cops sit just before the Old Hickory Blvd exit (Exit 221), or underneath the Old Hickory Blvd overpass just past the exit. They enforce speeders and single occupants in the two person minimum per car HOV lane. Beware of this just from a safety standpoint. Cops will pull out into the extremely heavy traffic flow, fight their way 4 lanes over to the left lane to get behind the offender, then shove their way back across 4 lanes of traffic to the right shoulder – very dangerous to everyone on the road! As Nashvillians know, Metro also has a very bad habit of leaving the tail of their patrol cars protruding into a lane of interstate traffic (Metro officers have been killed by traffic because of vehicles running into patrol cars parked like this.) This location is worked almost every morning at some time during AM rush.
