When the State of Alabama couldn’t pay the income tax rebates due to Alabama tax payers, and speed limit was suddenly lowered to 55 MPH on a stretch of Interstate that was just as safe to trave at 70 MPH. Interestingly, the speed trap is on the Georgia – Alabama border.
Intersection of McIntosh Road and Friendship Road
The road is incredibly straight with no Visual obstructions. There is a caution light due to idiots who attempt to beat the main traffic on McIntosh. The road is more than safe at 55 MPH; however, the limit drops from 55 MPH to 45 MPH and then to 35 MPH in less than 50 yards. There are usually Police Cars in this area.

On Interstate 20, the maximum speed is now 55mph from around Douglasville, GA, to Oxford, AL, and continuing towards Birmingham, Al. For years the speed limit has been 70mph. Recently changed to 55mph due to multiple accidents along that stretch of highway.
Greenbrier Mountain coming from Oxford into Anniston
the speed limit is 35 going up the mountain coming from Oxford into Anniston and a cop will be sitting there on the right hand side in parking lot of a blue apartment building coming down the mountain it is also 35mph.
