Prattville, Alabama Speed Traps
McQueen Smith Road near Cobbs Ford Road
Motorcycle cops park in the bushes just as you enter into the curve and they are looking for any reason to get you. Prattville has a zero tolerance.
Interstate 65 near Mile Marker 179 – 186
Troopers absolutely infest this 7 mile stretch (mile markers/exits 179 – 186) of I-65 (north and south). They hide Just over hills, in the bushes, behind tree lines and mix in traffic with a variety of unmarked vehicles (Tahoe, Durango, Charger and believe this…an Infinity). I’ve recently (7/9/2008) observed 6 just between mm’s 180 & 186. Especially be careful as 65 south widens to 3 lanes just before mm 181 & northbound during and just after the transition from 3 lanes back to 2 around mm’s 182/3.

Interstate 65 near Mile Marker 183
State Troopers will post themselves in a very wide median facing North. When Southbound traffic clears the woodline you are caught. Recently troopers have also started using rear facing radar too and will also get North Bound traffic. Sometimes there are as many as four sitting abreast at this location so don’t think for a minute he is alone when you see him with a customer.

State Highway 31 near Shelia Boulevard
Highway 31 between Shelia Blvd and old Larry Puckett location. Usually sits either in the Emerald Fall Parking Lot or the mini-storage. At night they sit with their lights completely out on the motorcycle so you can’t see them until either you’ve past them or see them in the shadows.
State Highway 31 (Memorial Drive)
Cobbs Ford Road near US Highway 14
Motorcycle police officers in parking lots of businesses along Cobbs Ford Road. Although the trap location varies, there is a zero tolerance in Prattville and due to normal hustle and bustle of traffic during rush hour (watching for cars, traffic light changes, etc.), you will not see them until their lights are on behind you.
