Wetumpka, Alabama Speed Traps
West Bridge Street (within 1/2 mile of the old bridge)
West Bridge Street (actually old HWY 14) is a four lane with a 30 MPH speed limit and runs through a residential area. Almost all traffic runs comfortably at 45MPH plus. Wetumpka police wait on side streets and in church parking lots. This may be Wetumpka’s most lucrative speed trap.
Highway 231 & Highway 170
If you are traveling towards U.S. Highway 170, the police officer sits and clocks with radar on the right hand side of the road.
US Highway 231 North near Radio Station on Left
As you are arriving in Wetumpka, you will pass an AM radio station on the left after the rest area. At this point slow down because as the road bends to the right, there is always a City officer who will sit in a paved lot out of site and pull anyone over who is over the posted 55 mph limit.
US 231 N
A Wetumpka police officer sits in a gravel parking lot located past a Chevron station just north of the downtown area. 60 mph will not get you pulled over, but it is wise to stay with traffic in this area. Also, if you plan on going really fast, Elmore County law enforcement vehicles are not capable of doing over 98 mph.
