Calgary, Alberta Speed Traps
52nd S.E. Street near 16th Ave. Overpass Avenue
Police sit facing north in the small park on 52nd St NE between 16th ave NE and Memorial Dr. 52nd St is a 4 lane divided road with a posted speed of 50kmh but traffic routinely travels at 65kmh. Prior to the 16th ave Overpass the speed is 60kmh but drops after the overpass to 50kmh. The park is two blocks after the posted speed change.
John Laurie Boulevard near 14 NW Street
Stationed at eastbound John Laurie at 14 St exit ramp. Speed limit is 70 kph. Check your speedometer as you pass 19 St.
Nose Hill Drive near Hawkwood Road
Calgary Police setup laser traps for vehicles travelling South bound on Nosehill drive near the baseball diamond entrance and the Library entrance. Enforcement usually happens before lunch around 11am and from 5pm to 7pm.
Memorial Drive near West 10th Street
Major road but since there are houses bordering it, the speed limit is 50. Everyone goes 70-80 as 50 would be way too slow for this road even in rush hour. A van will park in a very poorly lit spot, and the only thing you will see is the flash. My suggestion would be not to speed here because there is no way you can see the van when it’s that dark out.
Macleod Trail near Sun Park Boulevard
Red Light photo radar going south on MacLeod
