Calgary, Alberta Speed Traps

Traveling north or south on 37th Street s. w. between 23rd and 25 Avenues s. w. photo radar parked between other vehicles they catch traffic exeeding the 50 km speed as driver increase speed due to a incline of hill often exceeding 60 km. The street is wide and creates an illusion of an open roadway thus many drivers are less cautious on this stretch of roadway.

Along 14th Street Between John Laurie and 24th Ave there are Red, Silver and Beige 2006 Dodge Caravans with dark tints that Photo Radar this area between the AM & PM rush hours. During winter they are easily spotted as the only clean vehicles on the street.

On the right side there are multiple sources of concealment including a utility pole, bus shelter and large spruce tree. I have great eyesight, know what I am looking for (shiny legs of tripod and officer in red jacket) and I still can’t see them most times that they are there. Limit 50kph (31 mph), do not recommend above 60kph (37mph).

Eastbound 33rd Ave between 37 st and Crowchild Tr, laser usually set up over the crest of the hill in the entrance for Richmond Green golf course. Posted limit is 50, should be more like 60 for four lanes divided with no residences.

On Memorial Dr going East, after Crowchild Tr the speed limit increases to 70 only to drop back down to 50 at 19 St. The police park their car at the 14 St exit.
