Longview, Alberta Speed Traps
This speed trap has cost Longview many, many dollars.
Between 1988 and 2015 I passed through Longview about four times each year. I always purchased food, fuel, and many times stayed in motels. I liked Longview. I estimate that I spent several thousands of dollars there. In 2015 I was cited for exceeding the 50 km/h limit. I was guilty. I paid the fine. In the past seven years I haven’t spent a single dollar in Longview, and I never will again. Is this type of speed trap really worth it to the people of Longview?
Highway 22, Southbound
Southbound into Longview is a very long downhill to the city. Speed limit drops from 100 km/h to 50 k/mh. The cop sits just south of the 50 km/h sign and fleeces the innocent traveller while he attempts to slow.
State Highway 22
The town is at the top of a hill, its easy to not realize that you are entering it until you are fined.
State Highway 22 near State Highway 541
As you come south on the 22 you are decending a steep hill slowing to 70 klm then to 50 klm The cop sits behind a sign to the right side of the highway next to the convenience store. Watch him. He may or may not be there in his car, but if he is he’s hungry.
