Augusta, Arkansas Speed Traps

As the others have said, Augusta is one huge speed trap. I was raised there, and I am a cop in Marion, AR. Even so they wrote my wife some time back, despite calling the SO here in Marion to affirm I was a cop, and the fact my wife had been notified her aunt was dying in Searcy. The ticket was changed to a "civil violation" instead of a regular speeding citation. This enables the city to keep ALL of the fine collected instead of having to fork over most of the revenue over to the state. I informed the Augusta chief I would return the favor to an Augusta cop or his family here in Marion the first chance I had

Police car usually parked on South side of Hwy 64, sometimes two squad cars are used, one for trafic coming from the East, and another for trafic coming from the West.

Be careful when traveling through Augusta. As you come into town the speed limit drops down to 45 and then to 40. The police patrol Highway 64 all hours of the day.

Area between Bald Knob and Augusta patroled at all times and limits are strictly enforced.

Speed limit used to be 35, but is now 40. No traffic. Speed limit should be 55. 90% of the time there is ALWAYS a cop when you pass through Augusta. They are "ticket giving" happy. Much worse than it is in McCrory or Bald Knob. I’m surprised this wasn’t already on here.
