Little Rock, Arkansas Speed Traps
Lee Street near Van Buren Boulevard
Officers on motorcycles wait on several of the side streets to catch motorists who use this "cut through" to avoid the heavier traffic street on Markham. I have seen them on many of the side streets from Van Buren to Kavanaugh.
8300 Cantrell Road near resevoir park entrance
Officers from the LRPD hide along the south side of 8300 Cantrell just East of the city’s resevoir at the entrance to Resevoir Park which is convenient to pull over the unsuspecting motorists. Posted speed is 40mph but most drive 50-60mph so it is a great spot to drum up revenue for the city (almost as easy as shooting fish in a barrel). Hand held radar guns are using the Ka radar band and the officer is hard to spot from the location, using radaring the vehicle from 1-3 blocks away. This is a popular spot and is worked a few times each month.
12th Avenue near Fair Park Road
LRPD loves this hilly area. Usually 2 motorcycle cops work in tandem- one works the gun, the other writes the tickets. It’s a ticket assembly line. Multiple cars commonly seen pulled over. 30 mph is posted limit. I drive 25. They are usually within a 1/2 mile of the 12th and Fair Park intersection in any direction (using both 12th and Fair Park). Most commonly, east on 12th and south on Fair Park.
Shackleford Road
Police park their cars/motorcycles at Walnut Heights swimming pool and stand out with radar gun and issue many tickets.
Napa Valley Drive near Between St. Charles and Rainwood
Motorcycle officers like to sit at the bottom of one of the big hills on Napa Valley. They’ll just step out in the road and wave you onto a side street. Speed limit is 35, on a five-lane-wide thoroughfare between Markham and Hinson Rd (Rodney Parham)
