Marianna, Arkansas Speed Traps
Highway 79 North edge of city limits
Trap is located where the speed changes from 35 to 45 to 55. City police are located there everyday hiding behind a sign on south side of road.
Hwy 1 North right at city limits
City police are sitting at the edge of city limits where the speed limit goes from 45 to 60. They will clock you right before you reach the “Speed Limit 60” sign and then issue a ticket for “inattentive driving”. I personally know of three people who have gotten them in this exact spot in the last week. They wait for you to increase speed as you approach the “Speed Limit 60” sign and then clock you before you pass it. The “inattentive driving” charge doesn’t go on your record, but it DOES keep the entire fine in the coffers of the town whereas a speeding ticket fine would have to be sent to the state. Revenue generation by the city. No regard for public safety at all, as they are getting people as they leave the town.
Intersection of Hwy 1 N and Lee Road 402 past school
If you are driving north on Hwy 1 in the school zone, make sure to drive posted speed limit until you reach sign and only speed up after 60 mph sign. Usually there is a police unit positioned on lee road 402 hidden in the trees and you cannot see them until it is too late. Many have gotten 55 to 60 mph tickets in the school zones 45 mph zone because they see the 60 mph sign and start increasing their speed. Don’t do it just ride 45 until you get past sign and lee road 402 then drive off
Lee Senior High school zone
Creep along this area after the speed limit changes from 55 to 45 as you head into town after leaving Forrest City. You will be in the school zone.
