Paragould, Arkansas Speed Traps

Police officers patrol this area frequently. I’ve known several people who have received speeding tickets on this road. When driving toward Hwy 358, it is difficult to keep from driving over speed limit.

On Highway 49N just across from Finch Road (Hwy 358)which is just past Brick Oven Pizza, the police park in the parking lot of the Souther Baptist Associational Office, well out of sight of traffic until you are almost there. If you are coming from Jonesboro to Paragould, the speed limit changes just before Best Western from 55 to 45 and the police are parked on the Jonesboro traffic side of the road. They are almost always there at rush hour, but I’ve seen them there other times of the day.

Paragould Police will sit next to the Jehovas Witness Church on Hwy 49, just past the stoplight next to Glen Sain Ford. Southbound traffic on Hwy 49 coming from Marmaduke or NorthPointe66 cannot see the police because of a tree line. This is in a long stretch of a 45 MPH zone that should be a 55 and has little business on it. Police stay busy with this area.

I have seen on many occasions a Paragould Police Officer in one of two locations on Unity Road. First, next to the church on Unity Road so that eastbound traffic will not see the car until it is too late. Second, they will sit behind a tree where Purcell Road and Unity intersect and the Purcell Road turns to gravel. This has been early of a morning, 7-9am and once in the afternoon @430pm.
