Carlsbad, California Speed Traps
Alga Road near El Camino Real Street
If you are heading west down the hill on Alga towards El Camino Real, the motorcycle cop will sit right before the light as you are coming down the hill.
La Costa Avenue near East of El Camino Real
Motorcycle cops like to park in front of parked cars on La Costa Ave. or in the condo driveway to conceal themselves. Posted speed is 45 MPH and slows to 35 MPH just beyond to the west. You are sorta going downhill so its very easy to speed, but watch out – they’ll nail you for being 3 – 5 MPH over the limit!
Marron Avenue near El Camino Boulevard
Heading up or down Marron east of El Camino (across from mall) heading into neighborhoods. The cops love sitting at the top of the hill awaiting next victim – They love the working class as opposed to the La Costa crowd.
Alga Road near Alicante Road
Motorcycle cop will sit on the middle median and aims his radar gun up the hill getting people going down hill just as they come around the bend at the top so s/he is harder to see.
Palomar Airport Road near Melrose Drive
Cop sits at the top of the hill looking for cars rolling downhill too fast. I got a ticket going the same speed as two other cars next to me who got away. Palomar Airport past the airport at the big downhill curve going inland.
