Los Angeles, California Speed Traps
Glendale Boulevard near 2 Freeway
As you approach the 2 freeway on ramp while traveling north on Glendale Blvd officers stand with a radar gun pointing down Glendale Blvd. In the past there has just been one officer, lately I’ve seen three cycle-cops working together. This is a popular "short-cut" for people trying to by-pass downtown traffic, so the police know people are traveling over the speed limit.
Motor Avenue near Pico Boulevard
Motorcycle officers enforce speeding and/or stop signs along Motor Avenue between the 10 freeway and Pico Boulevard.
Slauson Avenue near Angeles Vista Street
Down hill and up hill between crenshaw and angeles vista on slauson (in both directions)
6th Street and Fairfax Crossing near Fairfax Avenue
There is usually a police car hidden within the parking structure of the 99 cent store or parked nearby. He tickets anyone going over the speed limit or making dangerous turns. You can’t see him until after you’ve passed Fairfax on 6th St.
La Brea Avenue near Stocker Street
There is a long, fast downhill stretch on La Brea between Stocker Street and Rodeo Road that winds between the hills. I’ve seen a single cop with a radar gun and a radio picking off speeders as they flew down that hill. He radioed ahead to a small army of patrol cars at a roadblock a quarter of a mile beyond, hidden by the curve of the road. They must have had a dozen cars stopped for citations. Fortunately for me, I was driving _up_ the hill!
