Los Gatos, California Speed Traps
Winchester Boulevard
Motorcycle or patrol car sits in driveway at the bottom of the hill heading toward Lark Ave. It is easy to exceed the posted 35mph speed limit due to the hill, and traffic regularly will do so.
Blossom Hill Road near Leigh Avenue
Motorcycle Cop will usually sit next to a fire hydrant off to the side of the road past the Leigh Stoplight or in most of the residential street entrances with gun at the ready. Los Gatos uses on the finest with KA band. (harder to dispute)
US Highway Lee Griffith near South of the Cats
Radar just around the corner south of the "Cats" landmark where speedlimit changes from 55 mph to 50 mph. Traffic generally goes faster than posted at this transition point and there is no sign to alert you to a speed limit change.
85 South bound
he sits hidden behind brick in an alcove right before the winchester blvd. exit
Summit Road between 17 and the Summit Store
Either CHP of Sheriff with park in driveways hidden by trees at the bottom of 2 or 3 steep hills…the posted limit is 40 mph but it is easy to go 50+ without riding the brakes down these hills, and anything over 45 is a ticket. The local residents usually go the limit (since we see the cops all the time) but this road is also used to bypass traffic on Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz and therefore they may tailgate, honk, or even pass you (illegally). Where’s a policeman when you want them?
