Palo Alto, California Speed Traps
Embarcadero Road between 101 and El Camino
Motorcycle CHP waits in side turning to catch you entering the 25mph zone for Palo Alto High School.
Arastradero between foothill Expressway and El Camino Real
On the weekend a cop sits after the bend (elcamino side) and generally hides between two parked cars. the speed limit on this 4 LANE road is 25, unless there is a cop known to be there everyone travels between 40 and 50 MPH and even the people who normally drive slow (not all people) drive 35 MPH anyway Heads up!!
Arastradero Road
Exit 280/Page Mill, and go to Arastradero southbound. There is a hill, with a steep decline. Speed limit is 35mph which is dead on target. However, the cops use a radar and just sit in a driveway just before the curve. If you have a heavy car, you can exceed 35mph (think of SUVs) and get busted. I see cars pulled over very routinely, so the enforcement is high.
East/Northbound on Page Mill Road from 280 to El Camino Real
The entire town is a speed trap, but this one is especially bad: a long downhill run with a speed limit too low and a hard to spot bend for the cops to hide in. They usually work it as a pair, with one car stationary at the bend to radar you as you come into view, and a second car to chase down anyone who doesn’t respond to being waved over. This approach allows them to catch and ticket cars in groups of five to eight at a time.
