San Anselmo, California Speed Traps
West Bound Sir Francis Drake Blvd @ Butterfield
This is a busy area on the weekends and traffic often backs up. One or two officers on foot will hide behind the bushes looking for vehicles using the right turn only lane (to Butterfield) and merging onto Sir Francis Drake. Beware!
Center Blvd/Lansdale Station
Heading east on Center, police car sits back on Forest Ave, behind children’s playground, booking anyone turning right in the morning between 8 & 9 am. Not really a "speed trap" but a regular ticket spot. Ditto Center & Saunders/Redwood, cop sits back on Saunders & tickets stop sign rollers.

Miracle Mile
When you travel from San Anselmo and San Rafael toward the downtown area of San Rafael, there is a motorcycle cop who often sits in the Center Median right after the McDonalds (across the median). Some times it is so lucrative two of them sit there. It is zoned 35 mph, but because it is 3 solid lanes of unobstructed travel, with no ingress or egress and an 8 foot brick wall on the right hand side, it is actually safe to drive 45-50mph. The speed test designed by San Rafael City to set the speed at 35 was done improperly (illegally) and did not take these features and many more into account.
