Carmel Mtn. Road heading from PQ to towards Rolling Hills Elementary
Just as you’re coming down the hill from the church area, there are a few uncontrolled side streets. Usually in the first street there will be a cop sitting there, semi-concealed as it is not a very well lit area. It’s very easy to let your vehicle speed up as you come down the hill from the church, and the cops know that.
Mira Mesa — Flanders Dr. between Cmo Sante Fe and Parkdale
Flanders is a common bypass to busy Mira Mesa Blvd. The speed limit is 25, and virtually nobody goes this slow. You will frequently see motorcycle cops hiding under trees and shades (and sometimes in the condo entrance closest to Camino Santa Fe), almost always in the early/mid morning–have never seen them after dark.

Kearny Villa Road southbound south of Miramar Rd.
This speed trap is enforced in bursts of activity, and then may not be monitored for months. When the speed trap is active, you’ll see activity for a month or more. About a mile south of Miramar Road, Kearny Villa dips down into a little valley with a bridge. Motorcycle cops like to position their bikes just behind the end of the bridge, under a tree so you don’t notice them as you top the ridge and start accelerating down the hill. Motorcycle cops only run the speed trap during daylight hours, although cop cars will sometimes patrol both sides of KV Road at night.
