San Diego, California Speed Traps
La Jolla Scenic Drive North at Caminito Deseo
Motorcycle cops park behind parked cars at the corner and use radar gun on motorists heading north towards la Jolla Village Drive. It’s a 30 mph zone, 25 if children are present, but the street is very wide and many motorists drive too fast.
Pacific Beach Drive and Riviera Drive.
Pacific Beach Drive and Riviera Drive is a three way stop sign.
Two motorcycle cops will park on the west side of Riviera Dr around the curve and they stand at the corner of Riviera Dr. and Pacific Beach Dr. They stop cars as they approach Riviera on Pacific Beach Drive traveling east. It does not appear that all cars are speeding rather the drivers may not be wearing seat belts. The officers appear two or three times a month.
Intersection of Del Mar Hts Rd/Carmel Canyon
A cop on a motorcycle periodically sits a the corner of Del Mar Heights Rd and Carmel Canyon just out of view, so as you are driving west on Del Mar Hts Rd and going above the posted speed limit of 45 mph you can pass him or her by and never see them until it’s too late.
Feldspar St. & Pico St. Pacific Beach
Two motorcycle cops usually work together and camp there on weekends. They stop their bikes on the south side of Felspar and watch for cars turning right onto Felspar from Pico. Many people roll through that stop sign. They’ll nab you with a CVC 22450(a) in a heartbeat.
