Burlington, Colorado Speed Traps
I-70 from Just west of Burlington to the Kansas Border
Watch out for Officer Phillipi in this stretch. He brags about giving over 1000 speeding tickets a year. I know its true, as I fought one he gave me in burlington court. He stated that he did not remember me personally, as he gives over 1000 tickets a year. He is fearless too, as he pulled over the guy in front of me, then walked out on the highway in front of traffic to pull me over too! (Side note… If the officer cannot identify you in court, they cannot convict you for the ticket)
HWY 24 Between Burlington and Seibert
The speed limit on this stretch of HWY is 55 watch out or just take I-70 instead.
I-70 (Kit Carson County)
If you don’t want to spend a night in jail (and they will jail you for just about anything above 85 mph and ticket you for anything above 75), you should slow down for this stretch. They Will get you – there’s like a cop stationed every mile. It’s a huge cash cow, so just slow down for that stretch and then take a “liberal” reading of the limit once you cross the border.
Interstate I 70 near US Highway I70 west and east
For the last 20 miles of I70 before heading into Kansas, the enforcement is heavy! They do their best to get you before you leave the state. Court is held in Burlington, CO so you will never be able to fight it!
