Colorado Springs, Colorado Speed Traps
Garden of the Gods Road near Centennial Road
Motorcycle unit positioned west of Centennial intersection in business parking lots, shooting west.
Voyager Parkway near Interquest Parkway
Going North on Voyager Pkwy right after Interquest Pkwy by New Life Church the speed limits change from 55 to 45. There are usually two motorcycle cops sitting there in the morning rush hour traffic off a side street at the bottom of a hill.
In the afternoon rush hour traffic I have seen one or two cops in vehicles sitting on the south bound side of Voyager roughly in the same areas. Since there has been some major development in this area and more businesses, there is also a school zone that they monitor pretty close.
Any time of day is pretty dangerous to be speeding on Voyager because the cops love to catch people and make some money for Colorado Springs.
Briargate Parkway near North Union Avenue
The famous motorcycle cops are out usually in force of two hiding behind stone walls that bear neighborhood signs on the North side of Briargate Parkway. Drewling to catch a speeder. The road is 3 lanes in each direction with a landscaped median and the posted speed limit is 45mph. These cops move in as new roads open up and ruin an already busy commute. Got to keep up the revenue scam! City of CS brought in over $6 million in fines last year, 43,000 tickets in a city of 375,000. What a retirement fund!
Rockrimmon Boulevard near Woodmen Road
Police sitting in unmarked vehicles hiding around corners, off on side streets, 30mph zone, 2 lanes wide each direction with a center turn lane. I was clocked 41 in this very restrictive 5 lane road that only allows 30mph! Another scam. Revenue generator. The CSPD responded to the released news of CS being ranked 4th in the nation for speed traps, which they said they didn’t know what a speed trap is. "We only use aggressive enforcement".
Interquest Parkway near Voyager Parkway
Coming off I25 onto Interquest Parkway, the speed limit immediately changes to 40mph. Cops hide in the business park off the westbound lane just beyond the sign. I was pulled over while sitting at the stop light at Voyager Parkway because I had not slowed down quickly enough. Obviously I was creating a great danger on an otherwise empty parkway.
