Erie, Colorado Speed Traps
State Highway US 287 near Lookout Road
2008 Grey Dodge Charger 4Dr, ghost car. Twin antennas on the back, single spotlight on the front. This is a sneaky ghost car, it has all the trim and big alloy wheels. Prowls US287 between Erie and Longmont, license plate is generic Colorado green and white, licence #961 ***. Sometimes accompanied by a Grey 2008 Ford F150 pickup with diamond plate tool box in the bed. Very stealthy, only purpose is to catch drivers as they come over the hidden crests on 287.
Isabel Road near 111th Street
Posted speed drops quickly from 35 to 25 for a set of elevated narrow bridges. Officer sits in a service area at bottom of east bridge where he is shielded by the hill from the west and heavy plant growth from the east.
County 8 Road near Near the New Erie School
The cop sits on County Road 8 far enough off the (back some lane)road that he is out of headlight range until it’s far too late. I usually only see him at night. After pulling away through the one development less then a mile away there was another cop with someone pulled over. Not a very nice/reasonable guy if you get the same one. 40 MPH zone
Eastbound Isabelle @ 111 St (just outside city limits)
Cops here love to camp out on a dusty trail that parallels the road. You can’t see them till you’re 50 feet away, what with all the vegetation hanging over the road (keep in mind that they can’t see you either). Just past 111 is the ’25 unless otherwise posted’, and 50′ beyond is the 35 sign. It won’t stop him from ticketing you tho. West of 111 is a pair of narrow bridges that are also posted 25 (outside Erie limits).
