Hugo, Colorado Speed Traps
In town, 30 mph from 75 mph outside of city. 4th and 6th st
Indiscriminate selection and application of speeding in a 30 mph marked zone. Selection of out of state plates even when not speeding. Of course you are unable to argue you innocence. I stopped for gas and was pulling out in town when pulled over for 58 in a 30 when it was clearly impossible for me to accelerate that quickly.
Hwy 287
Speed went from 55 to 25 in just a few feet. Beware!!! Very expensive tickets for no reason at all.
Entire Town
Speed reduced from 45 to 35 over around 100yrds, no clearly visible signage. In a previous life I worked for a large PROFESSIONAL police department. I can guarantee you this is a speed trap. Not only does this speed reduction exist to solely generate revenue, the cop who served me the ticket was in my opinion one of the fattest and sloppiest people I have ever seen in uniform. In addition to being unprofessional I could see his uniform was stained with food and he was obese by any standard. Funny thing is I was there scouting out a location for a new business. Hugo – went off the list immediately, we couldnt afford to operate in a town like this.

State Highway 40-287 near State Route Highway 40-287
The city limits of Hugo, Co are rediculous and the speed limit is 45 clear out of town abut 1 mile east or west. The speed limit changes to 30 miles an hour in town.
US Highway 40 near State Route 109
On two occasions on US 40 through this sleepy town, units were posted at both the north and south entrances to town. North unit was pulling over vehicles in a regular line. Speed goes from 55 down to 25 in a very short distance, but is well marked. South unit sometimes just a dummy in a parked unit.
