La Jara, Colorado Speed Traps
400 block of Spruce St
The speed limit was 50 mph going in to town and dropped to 30, and as soon as driver passed the new posted speed of 30mph, a police officer got behind them and pulled them over. Ticket was issued for $189 for driving 50 in a 30mph zone, court date set for 10/3/22, then rescheduled 2 more times. Judge accepted a phone call rather than in-person appearance since driver lives in northern part of state of Colorado, 285 miles away. The judge said if driver doesn’t contest the ticket and pays the fine, no points will be reported to MVR; if driver contests the ticket and is found guilty, points will go on record and court costs as well as original $189 will be due.
