Nederland, Colorado Speed Traps
Entire town
Officers use a variety of vehicles including a motorcycle and unmarked Camaros. The speed limit goes from a nice even 45 in Boulder Canyon and drops to 25 as you enter the town. Officers use moving and stationary and are ALWAYS out waiting. On any given day, you can see the cops on the side of the road writting tickets. A ticket is 80$ and up.
East end of town
Motorcycle cop that loves his work, speed drops from 50 to 25 and very little warning. Ticket cost me almost 100 bucks!
Center of town
Compact mountain town 20 miles west of Boulder has heavy through traffic on SH-119 and SH-72 (Peak to Peak Highway). Somewhat tangled street layout is the reason for the 20 mph limit near the bizarre (traffic calming) traffic circle at the 6-way intersection that all orads pass through. They are looking especially for bewildered tourists driving motorhomes. Ironically, they seem to have used the revenue to build a new Tourist Welcome Center. Study the map before you get to Nederland, and prepare for very confusing signs-and an overeager constable. Automatic sign tells you how fast you are going as you approach town, which should be a warning!
