Thornton, Colorado Speed Traps
104th Ave. & Washington St. by Burger King
Just west of Washington St. on the south side of 104th Ave. Cops sit in a parking lot drive hidden by bushes, on the west side of the Burger King. It is very hard to see then until it is too late, usually motorcycle cops, but even if it they are in a car, it is still to hard to see them because there is a white sign in the way. The speed limit is 35mph from I-25 to there and dose not go up to 45 mph for another block or so. It is very easy to get your speed up.

The speed limit drops from 45 to 35 for a short distance. The speed limit is 45 in the northbound direction 35 in the southbound.
Pecos and 97th, north of Niver Creek Middle School

Washington near Thornton High School
Motorcycle cops with handheld laser/radar sit near the small building just past the tennis courts. you can’t see them since they are behind a fence. They also sit in the stadium parking lot. Speed limit is 40 but new school zone means 25mph and it’s a downhill so it’s easy to pick up speed. When school first started, they’d pull over 20 cars/hour!
York just north of Thornton Parkway
Just a couple of blocks north of Thornton Parkway officers use hand held radar guns very often. They stand back off the York so it’s hard to see them until too late. Coming down the hill you can build up speed so be careful!
