Cheshire, Connecticut Speed Traps
West Main St.(Rt 70) coming from waterbury towards cheshire!
there are a number of speed traps here because the speed limit changes like every mile almost, but im gonna just go through the ones cheshire cops sit at daily. coming from wtby toward cheshire they sit at the "park n ride" on your right. (speed limit 45). they park at the bottom of the hill about 1/2 mile from the park n ride on your ride side across from the elementry school trying to catch people coasting/speeding down the hill and its a HUGE fine because its a school zone.(speed limit 40) but here is where it gets tricky! next spots are right next to each other but between the last spot i told u and this next one the speed limit changes again to 35mph. and this road is all down hill and its S turns the whole way down. so CPD sits at the Notch on your right and at the BP gas station on your right. and they are sitting there waiting for u to come around that corner going 45+mph. and im from this area and let me tell you something, 75% of the drivers going up n down West main st are doing 45-60mph. anyways the next is at Pops Pizza on ur left. and they like to use the dark blue cuisers so u cant see them. and u wont see them because you r coming around the sharp bend and they will be hidden in the back on the left side of the road where the trees are blocking ur view of them. you wont notice them till ur looking out ur driver window to ur left and u see CPD facing u with there speed gun. well thats all the main spots on West Main st Rt 70. they do sit at other locations but those r few n far between. goodluck and drive safe. P.S. cheshire cops are top 10 in the state for seat belt checks, cell phone violations, DUI’s, and last but not least speeding. so pay extra attention in cheshire.
Country Club Road
At least 3-5 days a week a cruiser will be on Counrty Club Road and/or Creamery Road at various points. The one common place is on Country Club Road about 1/2 mile west of South Meriden Road intersection, a few feet from the speed limit sign going west (or on your right) . The sign is obscured by the tree growth and won’t be seen until you’re right on top of it.
Coleman Road Court near Wallingford Road
Police cruiser is parked on the corner of Ashley court facing Coleman and can catch traffic crossing both ways. The cruiser cannot be seen from Coleman road until it’s too late. They’re generally there in the mid-morning hours and early afternoon.
