Easton, Connecticut Speed Traps
Route 59 pullouts, north of the junction with Route 136
There is a straight section of 59 with several pullouts that are commonly camped at rush hour. When heading north, passing the cemetery and the church, one comes around a bend and goes over a slight rise in the road. The first pullout is right after that rise, and is the most common one used.
Route 59 near Monroe town line
Two spots: the parking lot right before the traffic light, and surprisingly the grass in front of April Dr. Neither spot is used often, but people tend to drive very fast on this section of 59 – if you get unlucky, it will be a huge ticket.
Pullout at the corner of Route 59 and Adams Rd
The trap is dangerous in either direction. If you are going north, you will not see this location until you are right on it (because of the hill). If you are going south, they can see you from a very long distance away.
Along Route 59 at Helen Keller School
Right at the edge of the woods and the field there is a hidden little pullout that I’ve seen used. The large pullout at the bottom of the dip might also be used, but I haven’t seen a cop there yet. This is a school zone, so watch out. You should be driving slower here anyway.
Route 136 after the bridge over the Hemlock Reservoir
This is near Easton’s Route 58 and 136 junction. The cop has long visibility on you as you come down the hill toward the bridge. It’s only a 30 MPH zone and the long, empty road invites you to do much more.
