Fruitland Park, Florida Speed Traps

The police in this town are rabid when it comes to speed traps. The stretch on Hwy 27/441 to the turn off on 466A. Miller Rd, 468 and Dixie are crawling with cops. The town has about 3000 population and 16 squad cars. Voted the worse speed trap town in Orange, Lake, Sumter and Marion counties in 2006.Beware these cops show no mercy and could care less. If you travel 1 mile over the limit you get a ticket. Period. You think I exaggerate, go ahead and speed in Fruitland Park but plan on paying out the nose.

This town is notorious throughout Lake Co. as a speed trap; exercise extreme caution if driving through. Even the chief of police goes “on the road”” with his radar gun occasionally.”

Very strictly enforced 30 mph speed limit from 27/441 all the way to the Leesburg city limit.

Thomas Ave. heading N out of Leesburg becomes Dixie Ave. in Fruitland Park, and the speed limit drops from 35 to 30 and stays there to the terminus at US 27/441. The FP cops are relentless about enforcing the limit, even though traffic flow almost never warrants it.

When south bound the speed drops from 55 to 45. Police sit in parking lot on left almost every night. This is about 100 yds from speed limit sign.
