Lakeland, Florida Speed Traps
37B Lakeland Highlands Road Road near Polk County Parkway
Heading either way on 37B (Lakeland Highlands Road), there are one or two spotters at the underpass of the Polk County Parkway and usually five to six motorcycles waiting. The spotters catch the speed and the motorcyclists chase them down. They are hard to see because of the shadows underneath the Polk County Parkway, so be cautious. It should also be noted that motorists have been very helpful in flashing their highbeams to warn others, so please do the same if you run through this trap.
Memorial Boulevard near Old Red Lobster
Motorcycle or cruiser sits in the old Red Lobster parking lot under the trees. The speed limit coming West on Memorial Blvd/92 East around Lake Parker is 45mph and then drops to 35mph right after the old Red Lobster. I always keep my speed around Lake Parker at 45mph. The officers like the early morning rush, between 7:30am and 8:00am.
West Memorial Boulevard near Overpass bridge
Either West or Eastbound, an officer usually sits in a parking lot approx. 100-150 yards from the ends of the bridge. I am very concience of my speed (keep it 48 or below) in this area as I have witness numerous traps and pull overs. My detector constantly signals here.
State Highway Hwy 37 near County Trunk 540A
Heading South on 37 approaching the XYZ liquor store a deputy stands behind a tree and radios the speed to a “spotter”” There are typically 6 to 8 cruiser hidden that pull out as the spotter waives them out.”
