Mary Esther, Florida Speed Traps
Extension Hollywood Boulevard near Mary Esther Boulevard
Going west on Hollywood Boulevard, you cross Mary Esther and go onto the extension that continues with four lanes for about 1/2 mile. The speed limit is 35, even though there are no homes, businesses, traffic lights or stop signs. It is a road built for 45 mph but for whatever reason, the powers that be enforce the 35 mph limit.

State Highway 98 near Entering Mary Esther
I am assuming radar is used. However, it is the unmarked cars that get you. The police in Mary Esther as well as Fort Walton Beach use unmarked cars and will bait you by slowing down in the passing lane. A white Mustang is one of the popular cars used.
Now contracts Okaloosa Co Sheriff’s Office Deputies – no longer a speed trap!
No longer a speed trap since new law enforcement personnel are now supervising the area. Observe speed limits or 5-6 miles over and drive safely. I am with the Okaloosa COunty SHeriff’s Office.
On Hwy 98 from the Hurlburt Air Force Base Main gate, East to the Mary Esther cutoff.
Using their K-band radar to pilfer the pockets of unsuspecting motorists, the Mary Ester Public Safety Department fills the coffers of the Mary Esther treasury. Zero tolerance is the norm, with tickets being given out for infractions of as little as 1 mph over the speed limit. Watch for the Patrol cars on the right, just past the base on the South side of the road hidden in the bushes. They also hide in the church parking lot 100 yards East of the base. Although I’ve never recieved a ticket from Mary Esther’s finest, many of my friends have and I’ve observed hundreds of cars ticketed in the 5 years that I’ve lived in Mary Esther.
