Winter Park, Florida Speed Traps
Phelps Avenue near Aloma Avenue
Police with laser and/or radar love to hide on the side streets on the stretch of Phelps between Palmer Ave and Aloma (Winter Park). Be aware the limit is 25 and there is school zone (15 mph) where the fine doubles! Enforcement is particularly heavy during school hours and late night. Watch out!
Howell Branch Road near State Route 436
Everyday around 10:00AM, there is a cop on the corner of Lake Ann Avenue (I think that is the name) and Howell Branch drive. The speed is 35. I see a cop in the middle of the road everyfew days! I got smacked with a $150.00 ticket for going 14 over…
Goldenrod Road near State Route 426- Aloma Ave.
If you are traveling North on goldenrod towards Aloma Ave. It splits off to the right from Palmetto Ave. Cops sit in Golden Rod Park, speed limit is 35
Fairbanks Road
Starting from Orlando Avenue all the way to Lakemont, WPPD loves to hide on the side streets. One of them got me going 46 in a 35 (and btw-there’s only 1 speed limit sign between Orlando and Park Ave), and pulled me over at the former Cumberland Farms (right before Mulvaney’s Irish Pub). There’s also one that LOVES to sit in the entrance to the Lake Virginia Condos-you can usually see the front of his car sticking out. Be careful as you travel down Fairbanks after you turn the curve coming off Brewer’s Hill-sometimes they will flash their lights to let you know you’re going too fast, most times-they just ticket you.
Winter Park Road near Glenridge Way
Mid-day intermittent radar enforcement by motorcycle patrolmen between Glenridge Way and Corrine Drive. Speed limit is 25, but vehicles often travel at 35-40 mph, and are pulled over.
